Linear Basic Air Cylinders

Basic linear air cylinders are used to provide straight-line, in/out linear movement for a variety of applications. Basic air cylinders are available as single-acting and double-acting with single or double rod and non-rotating models.

Body styles include crimped, round, or tie rod. Single-acting cylinders develop thrust in one direction and have lower air consumption compared with the equivalent size of double-acting cylinders. With a double-acting cylinder, air pressure may be alternately applied to provide force in both directions.

Linear Rodless Air Cylinders

Rodless air cylinders differ from basic air cylinders in that no piston rod extends outside the cylinder body. Instead, the internal piston is connected to an external carriage, by means of a magnetic or mechanical coupling system.

SMC rodless air cylinders are ideal for long stroke applications because they are unaffected by rod overhang, bending, piston binding, and uneven seal wear, and for use in confined areas where space is a premium.

Guided Air Cylinders

Guided cylinders utilize guide rods mounted parallel to the piston rod to provide stable, non-rotating, high side load performance. SMC offers dual rod, slide table, heavy duty and precision models. Like rodless cylinders, SMC guide rod cylinders reduce rod bending, piston bending and uneven seal wear. Low profile models are available for restrictive space limitations.

Rotary Actuators

SMC manufactures two of the most common types of rotary actuators: Rack and Pinion and Vane style. In addition, we offer Combination models combining compact cylinders and rotational capability and rotary gripper combinations. When the application calls for rotational motion less than one revolution, rotary actuators can mount right at the equipment joint without taking up space with long stroke lengths, which would be required to do the same job with a linear cylinder. SMC's rotary actuators can achieve arc lengths of 90°, 180°, 190°, or even 270°, depending on the configuration.

SMC offers one of the most extensive lines of pneumatic grippers in the industry today. The series include rotary driven, two, three and four finger parallel styles that are ideal for gripping and centering; a wide opening parallel model, designed to accommodate many different sized parts; a heavy duty style, suitable for a wide range of applications; an angular model, speed adjustment built in; a toggle to give reliable gripping support; a low-contamination style, equipped with a protective boot; and electric models.


Heatless Air Dryer

Heatless Air Dryer: ID

Heatless air dryer (desiccant air dryer) ID series is best when dry air with a low dew point is needed. Supply dry air with a low dew point below 30°C. Air dryer series ID is compact and light weight without heater and electric control board. Possible to check the outlet dew point with the indicator. (Self-regenerative style allows for easy maintenance.)

Membrane Air Dryer

Membrane air dryer series IDG is available in a single unit or combination unit style. IDG/M models combine a mist separator and micro mist separator with a single unit. IDG/V models combine a regulator with the IDG/M model. Options available include One-touch fitting exhaust of purge air. If purged air is not exhausted around membrane air dryer, air is exhausted with tubing away from its dryer.

Refrigerated Air Dryer

IDF refrigerated air dryer series, in compliance with the Montreal Protocol Regulations, uses refrigerants R134a and R407C to prevent any damage to the earth's ozone layer. (Medium size series use R22). Series IDF can accommodate an inlet temperature of 40°C. System efficiency is improved by using a high performance heat exchanger.

Electronic Regulators

Electronic regulators control air pressure or vacuum pressure in proporation to an electronic signal. Electro-pneumatic regulators provide stepless control of air pressure proportional to an electrical signal.

Pressure Switches

Pressure switches detect pressure of gases or liquids. Built-in circuitry allows for the adjustment of set points and outputs. Outputs are ON-OFF solid state or read switch type outputs. Some models fetaure analog outputs. The pressure is detected using solid state, metal diaphragm or piston type sensors.

Applications for pressure switches include areas such as positioning, leakage testing, supply pressure verification, etc.

Vacuum Switches

Vacuum switches are widely used for automatic vacuum control for air and inert gases. SMC vacuum switches can be used for small electrical loads such as relays and programmable controllers. Other features include easy electrical wiring, wide callibration range, high frequency operation and long life.

Flow Switches

Flow Switches detect and confirm the flow of fluid and are available for both air and water.
